Anita J. Chapman 77 Oblong, Illinois died Thursday July 18, 2002 at 2:20 a.m. in Newton Rest Haven, Newton, Illinois. Anita was born in Willow Hill, Illinois on June 28, 1925 and was the daughter of Isaiah Ferguson and Bertha (Roberts) Ferguson. On July 7, 1943, she married Carl E. Chapman in Willow Hill, Illinois. Carl died December 9, 1989. Anita worked for the Jasper County School District as head cook at Willow Hill and Ste. Marie Schools. She retired from the school district in 1986. Anita was a member of First Baptist Church Oblong where taught Sunday school for several years and several different classes. Anita graduated from Willow Hill High School in 1942.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by two sons and daughters-in-laws Ed & Karen Chapman and Mark and Dianne Chapman; one daughter and son-in-law Carla & Danny Stevenson; 8 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 4 step great granddaughters; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Anita is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son Bryce (Feb. 24, 1997) 5 brothers Ivan, Lewis, Ben, Gene and an infant brother; 2 sisters Vera Geyser and Norma Ferguson.

Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.
